Kornit Digital has announced the upcoming release of its new comprehensive solution for dark polyester printing, featuring a new innovative software application for enhanced workflow and production.

With this new feature integrated into the machine's software, 100% dark polyester including 100% dark polyester performance fabrics can now be printed digitally with Kornit 931DS and Kornit 932NDS industrial digital inkjet printers, while using Kornit's existing ink technology along with the automatic wetting solution process.

Dark polyester has been known for its limited capacity to absorb heat, due to dye-migration side-effects, a chemical process where the dye in the fabric sublimates under high temperatures and migrates into the ink layer. The main challenge facing the DTG market in this particular area is curing dark polyester by heat without having it result in a discoloration of the print.

With Kornit's textile digital water-based ink formulated for low-temperature curing while maintaining extremely high durability and wash fastness, and with its proprietary pre-treatment wetting solution creating a sealed printing surface that prevents the garment's dye from binding with the ink film, Kornit is able to produce extraordinary full 4 colour process prints on dark polyester applications, without altering its chemistry in any way.
These advantages, together with extensive performance and implementation research, allowed integrating a new software feature to the Kornit machine, designed to enable customers to manage a smooth and productive workflow of dark polyester applications including variable data prints.

"With this new ground-breaking application added to the company's portfolio, Kornit Digital supplies customers a unique and all-inclusive solution that other companies have yet to offer", says Sarel Ashkenazi, VP of Marketing & Business Development at Kornit. "We believe that by successfully overcoming the difficulties involved with dark polyester DTG printing, Kornit has once again paved the way into a new era. As market pioneers, our customers are provided with an unremitting advantage to be the first to offer exclusive printing performances to their clientele, and with new opportunities to maintain their competitive edge, to expand their customers' base and to reach higher profitability."

Kornit's dark polyester printing application will be presented for the first time at Fespa Digital Europe 2009 on May 12th-14th in Amsterdam, Holland, at Kornit's booth # H70.
