Mimaki have announced the release of a hybrid inkjet printer for textile and apparel market which can load simultaneously two different type of inks (textile pigment and sublimation dye ink) and can print with only one printer direct on materials such as cotton, hemp and polyester.
The new technology that was not possible until now is available for "Tx300P-1800" without belt, and "Tx300P-1800B" with belt, direct on textile printers, and does not require usage of water in the post-treatment process (*1).
Recently, in the textile and apparel markets, quick deliveries, short and customized production close to the customer area are increasing along with mass production in areas where production cost is low. Mimaki's direct on textile printers, Tx300P-1800 and Tx300P-1800B, are specifically designed to address the need in the textiles and apparel industries for cost-effective short run printing of textile for products or samples.
To accommodate a wide range of requirements for printing directly on textile, Mimaki is offering five different ink types. Depending on the textile, one ink per printer must be selected. With the Tx300P-1800 and Tx300P-1800B sublimation dye ink, dispersion dye ink, textile pigment ink, reactive dye ink and acid dye ink can be selected. Textile pigment ink (TP400) for cotton and hemp materials, and sublimation dye ink (Sb420) for polyester material does not require steaming or washing in the post-treatment process and thus there is no need for a large space, a huge quantity of water or a special knowledge (*1). In this case, a printer, a color fixing equipment and relatively a small place will be sufficient, making these entry level printers suitable for designers, fabric workshops, education and research institutions.
As short run printing increasingly require printing on a variety of textiles and different type of inks, as budget and space is limited for designers, fabric workshops, education and research institutions, Mimaki has reacted promptly and developed two type of inks (TP400, suitable for printing on cotton and hemp materials and Sb420, suitable for printing of polyester material) which can be loaded on a single and affordable hybrid solution to all.
*1: Depending on the type of textile, steaming and washing may be required.
* Printing speed may be slow when compared with standard printers.
* It is not possible to print simultaneously with textile pigment and sublimation dyes ink.
Features
1. One single printer for cotton and polyester!
One type of ink per one printer is the standard solution when printing on one kind of fabric. For different kind of fabrics, multiple printers are needed. With the hybrid solution, it is now possible to print on cotton, hemp materials with textile pigment ink (TP400) and on polyester with sublimation dye ink (Sb420) using only one printer.
One single printer for cotton and polyester!
2. One printer and one color fixing equipment is OK! Textile printing is possible with a simple facility investment.
With the hybrid solution steaming and washing which require a large facility are not needed(*). Printing is now possible with a lowcost capital investment and in a limited space.
* Depending on the type of textile, steaming and washing may be required.
Textile Pigment Ink TP400
With the textile pigment ink external and large post-treatment equipment is not required. Textile pigment inks (solvent + pigment + binder agent) are fixed through heat without impairing the breathability and water absorbency of the fabric. The results are beautiful and printing on cotton and hemp materials is highly recommended for interior fabrics, T-shirts design, and various apparel applications.
Color fixation in the case of textile pigment ink
Sublimation dye ink Sb420
This ink is developed for pre-treated fabrics, especially for polyester. Color is fixed through heat after printing. Printing on polyester has good color results and excellent color reproducibility.
