There are still limited spaces available for next week’s SGIA Colour Management Bootcamp at Starleaton in Melbourne (3-5 Sept), an intensive three-day course led by experts David Crowther (The Colour Doctor) and Peter Way (Starleaton) that will focus on colour management for wide format printers.
The course is the first step in an SGIA Certified Digital Professional program operated by US-based SGIA International. Students can sit an exam and later submit a corrected print to the US to earn a digital certificate qualification registered with SGIA.

“FESPA Australia and SGIA will be investing in making this qualification recognised throughout our industry,” says FESPA Australia (formerly SGIAA) president Nigel Davies. “We want print buyers to choose a printer because they are confident knowing that a colour professional is on staff. We want our students to earn a qualification that is valued by industry and future employers.”
Davies says another goal is to build a community of hands-on colour professionals that are working within the industry. “We want people who have completed the course to find it easy to reach out to their alumni and teachers when they face challenges with colour.”
Next week’s session is the second colour bootcamp in Australia this year after the SGIA program was launched in April, also at Starleaton in Melbourne.

“Our first course was a big success and exceeded our expectations with excellent feedback from the students,” says Davies. “This course is designed to be hands-on and hardware and software agnostic. Students can put their skills to immediate use regardless of the equipment their use in their own workplaces."
Leading colour professionals David Crowther (The Colour Doctor) and Peter Way (Starleaton) will deliver the course for FESPA Australia.
