Entries for the Printing Industry Creativity Awards (PICAs) will open in January with revised categories - "as a result of member feedback, PVCA board oversight and international judging panel insight,” says the Print & Visual Communication Association (PVCA). Five state PICA events will be held in April-May 2020 before the National Print Awards on 31 July.

“The competition for gold will be fierce,” says the industry association. “The updated categories are designed to set a new standard that will showcase the strengths of print businesses in Australia.”
The awards will again include international experts on the judging panel.
“International judges have raised the profile and validity of the National Print Awards,” says Andrew Macaulay, CEO PVCA. “This has been recognised both within our industry and from consumers of industry services. It was noteworthy the large presence of customers at the National Print Awards and at Print 2 Parliament!”
Following the success of the second annual Print 2 Parliament! event, the 2020 awards program will focus on the journey to Parliament House. Gold national winners will have the opportunity to exhibit their work to policy makers at the third annual Print 2 Parliament! in October 2020.
“Design students (Holmesglen, RMIT etc.) will have the opportunity to enter a brand new category, Design2Print! which rewards exemplary design that has gone to print,” says the PVCA. “The winning piece will be auctioned for charity at the 37th annual National Print Awards presented in partnership with Media Super.”
Media Super continue to support the awards program as a premier partner. Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsors will be announced with the launch of the awards program.
The association announced dates for the state PICAs that lead into the National Print Awards to be held 31 July.
