Innovative Marrickville, Sydney printer Carbon8 has teamed with Sentry Medical to design and manufacture face visors during the Covid-19 crisis. The project made Channel 7 news and caught the attention of the NSW Premier Gladys Berejelikian.

Carbon8 Directors Peter Musarra and Kenneth Beck were approached by Production Manager Daniel Sutherland with the face visor idea. Never reluctant to back good ideas, they gave the green light. Suthelrland (described by Musarra as 'our resident industrial design genius') approached Sydney medical wholesaler, Eric Wai of Sentry Medical and the project was born, complete with sales channel.
Wai was quite surprised and told channel 7 "When Carbon8 told me they could re-tool, change their workshop and produce the face shields, I was surprised and said 'that's great.' We were facing a shortage but are now supplying tens of thousands directly to the NSW health system."

As Sutherland says: "It just made sense, we had the equipment, we had the skills and we had the time so we just said let's do it and put ourselves to work."
The visor parts are cut from a digital pattern direct to Carbon8's 3.2 metre Zund G3 flatbed cutter/router, which WFOL saw last year on a site visit to the Marrickville premises. Jobs have been preserved and extra casuals have been hired to cope with demand.
