The Inkjet Conference (TheIJC) due to take place next month in Düsseldorf – host city for next year’s rescheduled global print expo drupa – has been called off because of health concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.
In a brief statement, TheIJC organisers said:
“We are sorry to inform that TheIJC (The Inkjet Conference) will no longer take place in Düsseldorf in October 2020, due to the continued public health risks and business disruption caused by the COVID-10 pandemic.
“We look forward to welcoming the inkjet industry to TheIJC in November 2021.”
TheIJC brings together industry and academic leaders who speak about latest advances and future developments driving digital print. It includes a focus on inkjet engineering, a review on fluid and ink components such as nano particles, conductive, aqueous and UV inks and an academic track open to all universities and non-commercial research institutes to present their work.
Guest speakers at the 2019 event included experts from Fujifilm, Epson, Ricoh, Agfa, Kodak, Kyocera, Memjet, Colourgate, Xaar, Toyo Ink, Sun Chemical, Siegwerk, BASF, Kao Collins, Smithers and many other companies.
The conference was to have taken place at the Crowne Plaza Düsseldorf in Neuss, which offers over 3000 sqm of space divided into conference rooms and exhibition space.

Organisers of global print expo drupa (April 20-28 2021, Düsseldorf Fairgrounds, Düsseldorf) this week announced it would introduce a new online platform next month to offer exhibitors and visitors “an additional channel for touching base with the sector, discussing trending themes and presenting product portfolios.” The move follows the withdrawal of several high profile exhibitors from next year's rescheduled trade event over concerns regarding Covid-19.
“With the hybrid drupa we also give those visitors who are unable to travel the possibility to take part in the industry get-together,” said drupa director Sabine Geldermann.
