Enfocus, the developer of PDF editing and workflow automation for the graphic arts industry, says its new BoardingPass allows instant checking of PDF files for a range of issues.

BoardingPass uses simple drag and drop from an email attachment or downloaded PDF. It checks print job files for issues that would make the job unprintable. BoardingPass points out issues with missing fonts, image resolution, and bleed. As a stand-alone PDF viewer, it displays files as they will appear on press. When issues are found, a draft email reply is automatically created so customer service representatives can respond to customers quickly. The integration with WeTransfer allows users to drag and drop WeTransfer emails to BoardingPass which will download, open and check the PDF automatically.
With BoardingPass, customer service representatives can flag issues such as: Low image resolution; Incorrect document specifications; Missing fonts; Insufficient bleed, including face trim only for booklets; Inconsistent trim size and page orientation; Incorrect colour space.
“If a PDF file passes a BoardingPass inspection, it can be emailed to prepress or delivered to a local network server along with a report,” Enfocus says. “Customer service staff needs no prepress training to be able to provide quick, clear replies regarding PDF job print-readiness.
