Peter Thomas, who led the former Fuji Xerox New Zealand out of a major financial scandal, is this week leaving the company since-renamed FUJIFILM Business Innovation New Zealand “to pursue other interests." This follows the departure of two other high-profile and successful sales executives Ian Gibson and Graham Blackall.

Thomas became managing director at Fuji Xerox New Zealand in 2017 in the wake of a $450 million scandal that engulfed both FXNZ and Fuji Xerox Australia (now FUJIFILM Business Innovation Australia). A complex, long-running court case involving alleged “accounting irregularities” at both companies is still making its way through the Australian Federal Court system.

“We would like to thank Peter for his significant contribution to FUJIFILM Business Innovation and we wish him well for the future,” said Takayuki Togo, Head of FUJIFILM Business Innovation Oceania. “Since joining the business in 2015, he has played a key role in rebuilding our business in New Zealand during some very challenging times.
“Peter led the business out of a difficult time and leaves behind a much stronger organisation today. He spearheaded the acquisition and integration of technology services company CSG, and has cemented our new brand, which creates an exciting platform for our future growth.”
Thomas said he believes the timing is right for a new leader to take FUJIFILM Business Innovation forward in New Zealand.
“These are always incredibly difficult decisions and more so when you work with a great team of people. However, I have had the opportunity to pause and reflect, and I believe the time is right for me to move on.
“I would like to thank all of our team, customers and partners in New Zealand for their continued support.”
Mr Takayuki Togo will step in as interim managing director for New Zealand with an announcement about a permanent replacement to be made at a later date.
Thomas’ last day with FUJIFILM Business Innovation New Zealand is Friday, 20 August.
In an 2019 interview with NZ news website The Spinoff, Thomas said he was unaware of the problems at Fuji Xerox NZ when he joined the company.
Two high-achieving and popular sales staffers also recently exited Fujifilm New Zealand: Ian Gibson, National Business Manager Graphic Systems and Graham Blackall, Sales Manager had both clocked up almost 15 years with Fujifilm and are no longer with the company.
