Global printed textiles trade show Heimtextil – cancelled last month due to a spike in Covid cases in Germany – has been rescheduled as a ‘Summer Special’ physical trade show in June. Elsewhere, Brussels Expo has invested in a new air filtration and recirculation system to host Labelexpo Europe in April, and the US-based International Sign Association opened registrations for the ISA Sign Expo due to take place in Atlanta in May.
Heimtextil, which was set for January 11-14 in Frankfurt, Germany, will now now take place from June 21-24, 2022, as a one-time summer special parallel to trade fairs Techtextil and Texprocess.
“The decision to hold a summer edition this year is the result of a positive vote from the home and contract textile industry, which is longing for a re-start of personal business meetings this year,” said organiser Messe Frankfurt. "The Heimtextil Summer Special will take place as a purely physical event."
Olaf Schmidt, vice president Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt, said: “It is great to see the high level of trust that our exhibitors have in us, even after more than two years of the pandemic. The results of the vote and the first confirmations of participation show: the need to finally return to personal business meetings and new global contacts in face-to- face exchanges before the end of this year is as strong as ever – even if the reunion this year will take place in a different setting than usual.”
Francisco Jover Pastor, CEO of long-standing Heimtextil exhibitor Jover Group: "From our point of view, it is a good decision to reschedule Heimtextil to summer this year. We need a platform to present our new products to the market. The industry needs to see each other again, a personal relationship is important. We hope that the situation this summer will allow exhibitors and visitors to travel freely and that the fair will mark the beginning of a return to normality."

Meanwhile, Brussels Expo, which will host Labelexpo Europe 2022 from the 26 to 29 April 2022, has invested in an air filtration and recirculation system that is used to disinfect hospital rooms, operating theatres, ambulances and public transport to combat COVID-19.
All exhibition and concert halls, conference rooms and working spaces at Brussels Expo have been equipped with the UV-C disinfection system.
“Labelexpo Europe 2022 gathers together the very best label and package printing minds, all joining forces to help you achieve print perfection,” said the organisers. “This truly epic show is your opportunity to watch live demonstrations of the latest technology, meet with your peers, form alliances and grow your business.”
Registration also opened for the US-based ISA International Sign Expo 2022 scheduled for Atlanta, GA, May 4-6, 2022.
“The sign, graphics and visual communications industry returns to in-person buying, education and networking for the first time in three years at ISA International Sign Expo 2022,” organisers said.
ISA president and CEO Lori Anderson: “May is the ideal time to return to meeting in person. There is so much new with ISA International Sign Expo 2022, including a new location, and there is pent-up demand for sign, graphics and visual communications companies to explore the latest products and reconnect with their peers.”
Leading Australian print industry trade event PacPrint and its co-located shows, Visual Impact Melbourne and the Label & Packaging Expo, will take place in Melbourne at the end of June 2022.
