“Working with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and Sydney WorldPride 2023 – which is tipped to be the largest event held in the city since the 2000 Olympic Games and a first for the southern hemisphere – oOh! will promote these iconic events as they celebrate diverse LGBTQIA+ communities,” oOh! said.

The agreement comes as the ASX-listed OOH business prepares to launch an expanded Diversity and Inclusion strategy that “further recognises the value and importance of difference across the organisation.”

Raechel Gavin, chief people and culture officer at oOh! said: “Our people are the foundation of oOh! and the drivers of its continued success. We are ensuring diversity and inclusion is not just celebrated but encouraged and our employees work in an environment where they can share ideas and be their full selves each day.

“The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is an institution and with Sydney WorldPride 2023, the eyes of the world will be on the harbour city. We are strongly aligned with its mission and are proud to be the official Out of Home Media partner for the next three years.”

The first campaign for Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras and its more than 60 events is now running across oOh!’s digital network in key Sydney suburbs. Promotion for Sydney WorldPride 2023, which is being held in place of the Mardi Gras next year, will begin shortly after.

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras CEO Albert Kruger said: “Mardi Gras’ history has been stamped into our nation’s collective conscience through ground-breaking visuals across different mediums – art, video, costumery and performance. We are delighted to partner with oOh!media who are innovative leaders in the Out of Home space to amplify our message of diversity, inclusion and celebration around Australia.”

Sydney WorldPride CEO Kate Wickett: “Sydney WorldPride 2023 will be the biggest event Sydney has hosted since the 2000 Olympics. We are thrilled to have oOh! on board as partner to help showcase our amazing festival of celebration, creativity, and inclusion, as we welcome people from around the world to Sydney.”

The 2021 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade takes place at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 5 March.
