The first major industry event for two years kicks off today in Melbourne at the same venue as June's PacPrint. The Flexographic Label & Packaging Manufacturers Association has pulled out all stops to stage its twice-postponed Conference and Technical Forum over two days.

Flexography still produces most of ANZ's labels and flexible packaging but digital is making inroads

The FPLMA is the former Australasian Flexo Technical Association combined with the Label & Tag manufacturers - LATMA. A stellar local and international speaker line-up has been prepared and the opening of theTechnical sessions will be on the upper level of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, with guest of honour the Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp to open proceedings. On Friday night the label & packaging community will celebrate its achievements with a gala Award dinner to conclude proceedings.

Organisers report an impressive attendee number approaching 280 - Melbourne events are back in business!

Although there is no exhibition, the fact so many industry people from all over Australia and New Zealand are getting together to share technical knmowledge and recognise achiement is in itself a kind of 'litmus' test for the AusPack and PacPrint shows in May and June.

It's looking good and Melbourne has even turned on some decent weather compared to Sydney and Brisbane! Restrictions are barely noticeable - just mask wearing and reasonable distancing.

Well done FPLMA - have a great conference.
