As the atrocities in Ukraine continue to mount - the latest being the Russian bombing of a maternity hospital in Mariupol in the East of Ukarine; the rest of the civilized world (how can Russia be classified as 'civilized' after this and other outrages?), continued to show peaceful support for the people of Ukraine. The latest is Epson with a USD$1 million donation.
Mariupol Children's & Maternity Hospital after Russian bombardment - is this the act of a civilized nation? |
In a brief but poignant statement, Epson announced:
"Epson and its Group companies are deeply concerned by the conflict in Ukraine and the humanitarian crisis in the region.
To support humanitarian relief for those affected by the crisis, we are donating US$1 million through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the Red Cross. In addition, Epson Group companies are arranging to match all funds raised through staff donations to the Red Cross.
As part of its policy of pursuing the trust-based management that underpins its Management Philosophy, Epson is committed to respecting human rights. As such, we have made the decision to suspend exports of our products to Russia and Belarus.
The Epson Group strongly urges an immediate end to the conflict."
