In a move that reflects the industry-wide trend (see: TRMC merges with PVCA), the New Zealand Sign & Display Association is forging closer ties with fellow industry group Print NZ, with a trade show penciled in for July 2023.
'Investigating ways we can collaborate more': Andy Lowe, president NZSDA |
“The association has been investigating ways in which we can collaborate more together with Print NZ in the future,” said NZSDA president Andy Lowe in his executive meeting report to the association’s recent AGM.
“This may mean more combined events, shared membership benefits and a more cohesive apprenticeship program for both print and sign.
“With regards to our events for 2023, we have pencil-booked the Vodafone Events Centre for our Expo, which will be a combined event with Print NZ. This will be held in July, with the Sign Display Awards at The Cordis on the final day of Expo. 2024 Conference and Awards will be held in Napier, this will be our 60th Anniversary.”
The meeting heard that NZSDA memberships for the 2021 financial year remained at a steady level, with only seven members resigning due to selling of businesses or retirement.
“We gained 13 new members, four of which were associate memberships, six were contractor or a one person sign business, one for three or less employees and one for three or more employees, reflecting that our small sign businesses see the value in being an NZSDA member,” Lowe said. “We placed nine memberships on hold due to financial hardships. Realising that many of our smaller sign business were struggling, we offered payment plans to help get them through and many took advantage of this.
“In total we have 191 memberships, 34 Associates, and 157 Sign Maker members, with nine on hold.”
