KPMF - the Wales, UK wrap film manufacturer acquired by Orafol in 1999 as part of the US Kay Automotive Group buy, has introduced three exciting new colours for colour-change wrapping. Also, Orafol reflective media is finding new applications in waste bin marking, enabling refuse collection trucks to identify bins on dark nights.

From Beige to Hypnotic Black Velvet - Orafol's KPMF range of wrap films has it all

Anyone who has been to a trade show in Germany will know that all taxis there are light beige in colour. Mandated by the German government in 1980 so that all taxis can be recognised, the beige colour, or ivory as the Germans prefer, was originally a paint job but of course any used car buyer spotting a beige Mercedes E-class will normally run a mile. Along came KPMF, now a part of Orafol, and K88823 Taxi Beige was born and is still included in its vehicle wrapping systems range of products, even though the strict colour directive was lifted in 2005. It seems German taxi owners like their light beige.

Since then KPMF’s range of vehicle wrap colours has become much broader and exciting, with names like Vengeance Red Gloss, Mystic Pink. And three new ones - Matt Sinister Blue, Iced Green Titanium amd Hypnotic Black Violet. Lightning Opal Pearlescent anyone?

Orafol logoORAFOL is one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of retroreflective materials. These products – which are distributed under the ORALITE name in markets worldwide – were developed for areas and applications where visibility is essential even in poor lighting conditions.

With Orafol reflective media, bins are easily seen at night

Orafol refl binsOne safety risk is recycling and garbage bins placed directly next to public roads or footpaths for emptying by lift-arm trucks. When it is dark outside – for example during autumn, winter, or at dawn and dusk – trash receptacles can cause accidents if people do not see them at the side of roads or along foot and bike paths. And once emptied, there is a risk that garbage cans can tip over because of their light weight – for example, due to a gust of wind. Not infrequently, these receptacles become dangerous obstacles for road users and impair road safety. More and more communities are recognizing the problem and responding by applying reflective markings to trash receptacles.

Oralite safety markings for bins are suitable for receptacles made of HDPE plastic, while also ensuring high reflectiveness and excellent durability. With Oralite safety markings, garbage and recycling receptacles remain visible even at dusk, in fog and rain, and at long distances.

Oralite safety markings for garbage cans can be finished to customer specifications and can be printed with the customer's, such as municipal councils, chosen text or symbols. This text could include information on separating waste, collection dates, or details about the waste management company's services.

Of course the garbage collection trucks themselves are often marked with Orafol Reflective tapes, for ultimate conspicuity and safety at night.
