National print association PrintNZ says many of its members across the upper North Island are facing the prospect of a long recovery after devastating flooding in the region. Homes and businesses in Auckland were again flooded on Wednesday morning as heavy rain continued in what insurers have called 'the biggest climate event' in New Zealand's history.

“Greetings from a very wet (and still raining) Auckland,” PrintNZ CEO Ruth Cobb said on Tuesday in an email to members.

“While PrintNZ and the team have been very fortunate to come out unscathed we know that some of our members and their staff across the upper North island have not and face the prospect of a long clean-up.  Our thoughts go out to them all - we will work individually with businesses, but if there is anything that we can do please don't hesitate to contact us.”

In an update, Cobb added: “I wanted to separately email those in the affected areas to outline what support may be available to you.  We work closely with MSD [Ministry of Social Development] in helping affected businesses and workers in a number of areas, including disaster support.

“Anyone that has been affected by the floods can click on the link below to apply for the Civil Defence Payment.  Once they have done this they can then get in touch with MSD via the code, to go through possible support options.

“The link provides a full list of what may be provided if you have had to leave your home, can't get back to your home, you require items such as clothing and bedding, or you can't work.

“If your business has been affected please make contact with MSD to advise how many employees are affected and whether any support payments have been offered. MSD have Case Managers available to contact at any time.

"Below is a QR Code for employees/businesses to reach out and have someone from Work and Income contact them to see how they can assist.  Scan the QR code and click on the link.”
