Melbourne-based Automotive Stripes Australia (formerly Custom Striping) has installed a second Roland DG TrueVIS AP-640 resin printer just three months after buying its first AP-640.
In early 2023, with the assistance and support from its local supplier Spicers, Automotive Stripes purchased its first AP-640 resin printer and was impressed with the results.
“We are absolutely amazed with the production speed, quality and also colour gamut…maintenance and cleaning is much easier and down time due to problems is very rare,” said ASA owner Ryan Smith. “The dryer has a very fast heat up and cool down time compared to what we have heard about other brands, and very little of that heat is lost into the room due to an efficient air recirculation system in the drying unit.”
After 3 months of heavy use and putting the printer through its paces, the company made the decision to purchase a second AP-640 to streamline production and keep up with an increased workload.
Established in 2011 as Custom Striping, the supplier of caravan stripes and graphics has grown into the largest supplier of 3M pinstriping and Automotive Grade Scotchcal in Australia. Its current fleet of 3 Roland DG printers also produces a wide range of signage applications for the caravan industry.
The company’s trading name changed at the start of 2021 to Automotive Stripes Australia, which “better reflects our position in the market.”
Ryan says his experience with Roland DG and Spicers has been a very positive one, leading him to recommend the AP-640 to at least two other companies.
“They have always looked after us and their communication is very good, which is a massive part of feeling valued as a customer."
