Total Image Supplies has announced the addition of two new sustainable papers for wide format printing, with stocks on the way and available very soon. Most photo papers for aqueous printing are coated containing Polyethylene – a plastic, but not Sihl’s new GreenGrafX. Also new is a 100% cotton rag paper.

Coming soon to Total Image Supplies is a fully recyclable Photo Paper for Aqueous Inkjet Large Format Printing. All conventional inkjet photo paper is coated with plastic and therefore cannot be disposed of in the waste-paper recycling system. This is because the coating contains polyethylene (PE), and it is not possible to separate this from the paper base.
However, the arrival of Sihl GreenGrafX photopaper changes all that! Less plastic, more sustainability: this is what GreenGrafX Photo Paper 220 satin stands for, it’s 100% recyclable with 100% Sihl quality from Total Image Supplies.
GreenGrafX Photo Paper is made in Germany and is the first choice for sustainably brilliant photo prints because the material is FSC certified as fully recyclable via the normalwaste-paper cycle.
Its properties deliver the same quality, same colour brilliance and same gloss but uses much less plastic. Sihl’s scientists developed a finishing methos with a bio-based barrier and the microporous coating that replaces the PE-film retains important properties essential for photo printing.

Cotton on to Entrada Rag 300
A second new material coming soon to Total Image Supplies is Entrada Rag Natural Coldpress 300. It follows on from the huge success of Entrada Rag 190gsm. As the name implies, it’s a rag-based 100% cotton ‘paper’ – which is what the world printed on before the mid-1850s when machinery was invented to mash up trees!
Entrada Rag, from Legion/Moab paper, exhibits a watercolor paper texture that delivers sharp results and a rich feel, now with 300gsm bulk. It comes in sheets 8.5x11", 13x19" and rolls 24”x 75ft; 44” x 75ft and 60” x 75ft.
It is a 100% cotton, acid and lignin-free fine art paper designed for photographers printing in both color and black and white. The paper has an expanded color gamut, natural contrast, and can take a high ink load. Compatible with both dye and pigment inks, the paper ensures long-lasting art grade prints when used with archival inks.
At 300 gsm and 18 mil thick, single-sided Entrada Rag Natural Coldpress 300 also has a whiteness of 70, without the use of optical brightening agents.
