Kyocera Document Solutions America has sued the New Jersey, USA Department of Treasury over economic sanctions against Russia over the invasion of Ukraine. The NJ state law prevents government entities from contracting with a company whose parent has operations in Russia.

In its lawsuit, Kyocera said the New Jersey law undermines federal sanctions by obstructing the president's authority to control economic sanctions against Russia and Belarus, according to a report by US-based law.com.
“The New Jersey law, which is stricter than federal sanctions against Russia, bars Kyocera from doing business with the state because another branch of the company operates in Russia,” the report said.
“Kyocera America’s corporate parent, Kyocera Document Solutions, is a Japanese company that also co-owns a Russia-based subsidiary with Kyocera Document Solutions Europe, the suit states.”
Kyocera America has no interest in or business relationships with that Russian subsidiary or in Russia, according to the suit.
Kyocera America, with its principal place of business in Fairfield, New Jersey, “does significant business in the State of New Jersey, including as a vendor to municipalities and government entities throughout the state,” the suit says.
