“In an Out of Home media first, oOh!media has launched the latest innovation in billboard skins to provide advertisers more environmentally sustainable options to connect with audiences at scale while making brands unmissable,” oOh!media said.

“The latest campaign currently running on Australia’s largest Out of Home billboard at the Glebe Island Silos in Sydney, is using the new and revolutionary Ecobanner – a fully recyclable fabric that delivers the strength and durability needed for this iconic site.

“oOh! continues to invest in reducing the amount of waste going into landfill and last year launched its dedicated Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) team to drive the long-term sustainable growth of the business.

“Ecobanner installations offer both strength and durability, making it suitable for oOh!’s larger spectacular and iconic billboard sites – including the Glebe Island Silos, which are also 100% powered by renewable energy."

Sarah Young, group director, ESG at oOh! said: “In 2019, along with our print house Cactus we developed SmartSkins, a world first billboard skin that is 100% recyclable. This is now being widely used, but we needed a material that was suitable for oOh!’s network of larger billboards and those at heights which are exposed to high winds and still rely on non-sustainable vinyl. The Ecobanner meets these demands and we are delighted to be the first Australian media company to be using it and continuing our leadership role in Out of Home sustainability.”

Designed and developed by GALE Pacific in conjunction with the Out of Home industry, Ecobanner is the only Australian made, PVC-free flexible banner fabric, capable of offering a 100% closed loop recycling solution.

Troy Mortleman, GM ANZ and VP developing markets at GALE Pacific: “Sustainability is the cornerstone of our design approach and Ecobanner is the latest innovation that gives the Out of Home industry a new option that can be repurposed back into the manufacturing stream creating a true end-of-life waste solution which avoids landfill. We are delighted to have worked with oOh! on this launch.”
