It's fitting that Siser, a Vicenza, Italy manufacturer, has branded its compact cutters 'Romeo and Juliet' since the setting for Shakespeare's famous play is less than 60km away, in Verona. Sometimes, a smaller desktop shape cutter is the answer for one-off, prototype, studio or short run sign and label jobs. Heat transfers, a Siser specialty, and sports names/numbers are further applications.

Siser products are often associated with heat transfer and coloured or holographic vinyl films and so they should be as the Italian manufacturer is a leader in this field. But Siser also make nifty cutters named 'Romeo' (24"/610mm) - and 'Juliet' (12"/305mm.) There is also very capable software suite called Leonardo Pro Design Studio, available on subscription of USD$8.99 a month. The non-Pro version is free to use but Pro handles PDFs and has many features that serious sign and label/sticker printers need.
The smaller Siser Juliet cutter is a good studio device
The 'Romeo 610mm cutter is probably more applicable to professionals but the smaller 'Juliet could easily sit on a studio desktop for fast samples and prototpes. Both have applications for: T-shirts and apparel, Mugs and tumblers, Signs and banners, Stickers, Home décor, simple vehicle graphics.
Print and Cut projects are made easy thanks to a built-in camera on the cutter head. Both Romeo and Juliet models can read registration marks and cut full color designs. The cutters can connect to PC or MAC via WiFi for a reliable wireless experience, without cables.The Siser cutters can also cut cardstock and paper up to 1mm thick, with an accuract down to 0.01mm. Blades of 60 or 45 degrees come as standard.
Basic Siser Leonardo Design Studio software comes free with every cutter but the Pro version upgrade is recommended at a very reasonable USD$8.99 a month per mont, or yearly subscription with 10% discount - under $100 a year!
Of course, with Siser's pedigree in heat transfer vinyl, both cutters are idealy suited to this and it comes as no surprise that they are available through Graphic Art Mart and also Velflex and, in SA Vinyl Warehouse.
