Having known Wayne since his first drupa, back in 1990 – Wayne Robinson has since notched another 7 in a remarkable career dedicated to the printing industry – WideFormatOnline is keen to add our congratulations to the Print21 editor as he rides off into the metaphorical sunset.

It was wholly fitting for Wayne’s service to the industry to be honoured through an Industry Service Award at the recent National Print Awards.

"As someone who has dedicated his career communicating, representing, sharing our stories and being a strong media advocate for our industry, I think we can all agree that Wayne Robinson is a worthy winner,” said VMA CEO, Kellie Northwood, at the award presentation.

For the past seven years, Robinson has been editor of Print21, during which time the magazine has transitioned into a multi-media platform, delivering a twice weekly electronic news bulletins, weekly video news bulletin, and podcasts, typically fronted by the man himself.

On receipt of the award, which was presented by sponsors Craig Walmsley of HP and Mark Daws from Currie Group, Robinson - who is usually reporting on the award winners – confessed to being a little taken aback when his name was read out: “As Kellie was going through the citation for the Industry Service Award, I suddenly realised she was talking about me.”

“I am honoured, and deeply appreciative, to be recognised by the leaders of the industry.”

Robinson career started in typesetting and the era of the repro houses, saw the advent of digital print, through to the evolution of today’s dynamic, customer-focused print businesses. But he is now looking forward to changing this to enjoy the equally ‘dynamic’ growth of his grandkids.

WideFormatOnline and the Image Publishing team wish him well.
