Durst Group has announced the full integration of GMG’s spectral colour management technology into its proprietary Durst Workflow software as well as into the open Smart Factory portfolio of its Open Software Initiative. Michael Deflorian, Director Business Unit Software & Solutions at Durst Group, says: “This will enable us to deliver new levels of colour consistency: fully automated and highly scalable.”
Durst Group has announced the full integration of GMG’s spectral colour management technology into its proprietary Durst Workflow software
Deflorian continues: “At the same time, this marks a first real-world example of a true best-of-breed integration that marries up with the spirit of Durst’s Open Software Initiative. It underlines our ambition to deliver the best software solutions on the market: not just for Durst customers, but for the entire print industry.”
GMG is a leading, internationally recognised, award-winning developer and global supplier of high-end colour management software solutions. Its customers span a wide range of industries and application areas including advertising agencies, prepress houses, offset, flexo, packaging, digital, and large-format printers as well as gravure printers. GMG OpenColor uses a proprietary spectral calculation model and can precisely predict the interplay between varying processes, substrates, and overprinting.
Through this integration, Durst claims to be setting a new industry benchmark for automated and colour-consistent production, regardless of printing system or substrate. From now on, the Durst Workflow will be delivered with fully embedded spectral colour management from GMG. Existing customers with a valid software agreement will receive the new solution at no additional cost.
The integration covers all market segments in which Durst operates: labels & packaging, corrugated, and sign & display. In addition, the GMG solution becomes a key component of Durst’s modular Smart Factory architecture, which is central to the Open Software Initiative – Durst’s vision of an open, fully connected production ecosystem.
Darrian Young, Global Partnership Manager at GMG, adds: “This partnership brings together two companies with innovation and quality at the core of their DNA. The integration into the Durst Workflow and Smart Factory architecture enables a consistent, media-neutral production process – a real gamechanger for the market.”
