The Visual Media Association (VMA) is inviting all industry representative bodies across the paper, print, packaging, sign and display, publishing, mail and distribution sectors to submit proposals for its 2026 Industry Initiative Funding and Support Round.

Kellie Northwood, VMA CEO, says: “Our members consistently tell us they want to see a more united industry, one that works together, speaks with one voice and removes unnecessary fragmentation. The 2026 funding round is about encouraging this collaboration, amplifying shared objectives and supporting initiatives that deliver meaningful impact for businesses, workers, government partners and the communities our sectors serve.”
Representative bodies across all sectors are encouraged to apply – noting a 10th December 2025 cut-off date for receipt of applications - with support likely to take varied forms, from co-funded projects and research dissemination to keynote speakers, thought leadership, and shared industry advisement.
The primary objectives of the funding are to strengthen cross-sector collaboration and deliver greater outcomes for the broader industry through unified efforts, shared resources and reduced duplication across associations.
VMA CEO Kellie NorthwoodNorthwood noted that the initiative is not simply a funding opportunity, but an invitation for industry associations to rethink how they work together. “As we look to the future, there is a significant opportunity for our industry to coordinate more effectively. By aligning our work, reducing duplication and focusing on the shared challenges and opportunities ahead, we can build a more efficient, resilient and impactful industry. Collaboration strengthens every part of our ecosystem.”
Earlier this year the VMA hosted a collaborative industry meeting at its Head Office, bringing together leaders from across the sector. While the discussions were constructive, activity since has been limited. Northwood said the 2026 funding round is a practical next step in continuing that dialogue and converting it into collective action.
“We were encouraged by the open and frank conversations at our earlier meeting,” Northwood said. “What we need now is momentum. We invite all representative bodies to bring forward ideas, initiatives or projects that will help shape the future of our industry. This is an opportunity to work together, align our expertise and pool our capabilities for the benefit of all.”
The VMA emphasises that proposals should demonstrate alignment to at least one of the VMA’s four strategic pillars - HR / IR and workplace relations, ESG, skills and training, and engagement and growth - and clearly outline how the initiative will support sector-wide outcomes. Applications will be assessed as part of the VMA’s 2026 calendar-year planning and budget allocation.
Northwood continues: “Every part of our industry has a role to play in securing a stronger future. The VMA is committed to supporting that future, and to working collaboratively with every organisation that shares our commitment to growth, capability and sustainability across our sectors.”
Applications for funding or support should be submitted directly to ‘the VMA Chief Executive Officer’ by 10 December 2025.
