It was only in November 2006 that Positive Camtec installed a new Roland Dye Sublimation system at Image Mart (in Sydneys outer west). One month later Image Mart Principal Shane Baldwin placed his order for a new TeckSmartUV Curable Printer from Teckwin and Positive Camtec.
The TeckSmartUV caught Shanes eye at the Visual Impact Image Expo in Sydney 2006. The capabilities and versatility of UV Curing technology had his mind working overtime with all the possible applications.
Since I started in the sign industry my dream was to have a system that could print directly to the substrates I use every day. Materials like acrylic sheets, foam board, corflute and Dibond paneling said Shane.
After the Sydney show, I was talking to everyone about the capabilities of UV technology to get a feel for the opportunities in the market commented Shane. I was overwhelmed by the response and by December I made the decision that I couldnt afford not to have a UV Printer it just made simple sense.
After scouring the show and comparing all of the models on offer, Shane compiled a short list that included two Teckwin offerings - the TeckSmartUV Hybrid Printer and the TeckUV Dedicated Flatbed. After several visits to Positive Camtecs showroom and discussing the options with Product Manager Phil Trumble, Shane decided to take up the offer to print some real-world jobs through the Teckwin printers.
Shane finally settled on the TeckSmartUV - primarily due to its small footprint, versatility and extremely competitive price point. The TeckSmartUV was installed in Late December and once the installation was complete it was put to the test. The first run of corflute signs was completed with ease and it was a great relief to Shane to finally be able to complete the entire job in-house, rather than contract out as he had done in the past.
