Eizo have announced their new ColorEdge CG242W LCD monitor for photo and video image work.
The CG242WK is ideal for pre-press, digital photography, video editing, and post production. Features include a wide colour gamut, 3D look-up table, hardware calibration, and a DisplayPort input.
CG242WK offers hardware calibration so the monitor itself is calibrated rather than the computer's graphics board. This ensures no tones are lost in the calibration process and results in accurate on-screen colour. EIZO's ColorNavigator calibration software is bundled with the monitor and is used for setting the target values for brightness, white point, and gamma. ColorNavigator works with a measurement device to directly utilize the monitor's 12-bit look-up table for accurate calibration in less than five minutes.
A 3D look-up table improves the panel's additive colour mixture (combination of red, green, and blue), a key factor in its ability to achieve gray balance or a neutral gray tones. This means that if the monitor is set to a specific colour temperature such as 5000 K, all greyscale tones from 0 - 255 will be 5000 K.
The CG242W is a time and cost saving device, offering screen to print match for soft proofing. The image signal is interpreted correctly by the in-built asic chip, to display subtle detail not normally visible on a standard monitor.
