Halifax Vogel Group (HVG) has announced its purchase of 22,500 square metres of land in Melbourne for a state-of-the-art office and warehouse complex for its group of importing and distribution companies.

Halifax Vogel Group, SmartStone, Alucobond Architectural and Octanorm Australia will move to the new site at Derrimut in Melbourne’s western suburbs, which will replace existing premises at Maidstone and Hallam.

The construction of the 8,000 square metre office and warehouse complex – HVG’s largest in Australia – represents a $7.5 million investment in the future growth of the group in Victoria.

The site also provides capacity for a further 4,000 square metres of warehouse space to be built in the future.

“We have operated on two sites in metropolitan Melbourne since August 2007, when Alucobond Architectural and Octanorm Australia were acquired by Halifax Vogel Group,” said Bruce Rayment, CEO, Alucobond Architectural and Octanorm Australia.

“With the lease on the Maidstone site expiring in August 2010, we have taken the opportunity to build a state-of-the-art complex and bring our teams in Melbourne closer together as we have done previously in Brisbane and Sydney.”

Staff are expected to move into the completed complex, which will feature an Alucobond clad office area, in approximately 12 months time.

The complex will provide additional space and facilities for the importing and distribution of HVG’s diverse product range, which includes market leading aluminium composite material, graphics media, industrial fabrics, decorative building products, engineered stone and exhibition systems.

“The opening of the Derrimut site in 2010 will increase supply opportunities for our clients, with more stock on hand and streamlined processes for purchase and distribution, and offer a safe and spacious working environment for our staff” said Mr Rayment.

The new site is located in West Park Drive, Derrimut.
