Applications are now being received for the 2010 GAMAA Leadership Programme - Scholarships.
Scholarships are open to all individuals working in the graphic media and printing technologies industry who have the support of their employer.Since 2003 GAMAA has been committed to encouraging individuals to pursue and explore further study particularly in relationship to the development of leadership skills.
Samantha Crock GAMAA Education Manager says, “Successful applicants will be awarded a scholarship that facilitates financial, educational and professional support over three years.”
The GAMAA scholarship is unique to the industry providing those in middle -upper management with the opportunity to enter into post-graduate assisted study.
The full criteria for applicants can be found on the GAMAA website, with key criteria as follows –
· Eligible post graduate studies – certificate/diploma and/or Masters level
· Field of study – management and leadership
· Study must be in a University or GAMAA approved course
· Support from employer
Over the past six years the GAMAA Leadership Education Programme has evolved to meet the demands of the industry. “We’ve run several focus groups with producers and suppliers to define the areas that are lacking in education for the industry. The most recent results indicate a need to improve the skills of management with particular reference to change,” says Samantha. This topic will be explored in the GAMAA residential workshop Change Management New World New Rules to be held 23-24 October in Sydney.
Comments from GAMAA Graduates:
Nathan Kable, Director, Rawson Graphics
“My GAMAA Scholarship has assisted me in many ways with my post-graduate studies, beyond just the obvious financial help. It has given me a group of mentors and peers with which to discuss my educational goals and the relevance of certain subjects and courses. It has also provided a great network within our industry of people who understand my perspective. Their feedback continues to assist me in both my studies and the workplace.
Overall, the GAMAA Scholarship has been a great support in enabling me to get the most out of my studies.”
David Constable, Marketing Officer, AustralianSuper
“I feel very fortunate to have received the GAMAA scholarship to support my post-graduate studies. It has allowed me to extend myself into other areas that I would otherwise not have considered.
Perhaps most significantly, knowing I had the support of the GAMAA scholarship allowed me to take a risk with my course selection. I chose to do a research style project that ultimately resulted in a small thesis. This was a hugely challenging project for me, the most rewarding and the most learning intensive experience.
And with the GAMAA scholarship I’ve been very lucky to share some unique learning experiences with an equally inspirational bunch of people”.
