John Childs, sign industry mentor, managing director of Corby Graphix UK, and good friend..... died of a heart attack on May 3, 2010.
Shane Drew brought this to our attention as many Aussie signies will know John Childs through the popular UK Signboards. Truly a sad day in a lot of peoples lives as he was the voice of reason and a positive influence on many sign shops around the world. The sign world will never be the same.
His wife and family will finish the outstanding contracts, then decide whether to continue the business.
General Manager, Peter Mindham, released this statement;
It is with deep regret that I inform all our friends that John Childs, Managing Director of Corby Graphix, passed away yesterday at home of a suspected heart attack.
Corby Graphix will continue to operate in the short to mid term. A decision will be made by the Childs family as to the future of the business in the fullness of time.

John Childs was an astute business man, who was not afraid to help anyone become better at their trade. He was well known for helping anyone in need, young or old, rich or poor, and was one of the mainstays of the uksignboard community.
A true industry giant, especially in the UK, a valued friend and mentor to many, who will be sorely missed.
