Roland DG Australia and New Zealand have launched their Eco-Media range of substrates.

The range comprises four media specifically designed to work with Eco-Solvent printers with biodegradable substrates to replace traditional PVC substrates;

Eco-Display is a glossy polypropylene banner for indoor and roll-up applications and is specifically designed for solvent and eco-solvent ink jet printers. Eco-DISPLAY is a cost effective solution for printing short-term, high resolution glossy graphics,banners, P.O.P displays, roll up displays and posters.

Eco-Canvas is an acid-free, matte finish, artist stretch canvas designed for long-term, fade resistant fine art or photo reproductions when imaged with solvent and eco-solvent ink jet printers. The polyester/cotton blend canvas has a specifically designed coating which delivers superior color gamut and resolution. Eco-CANVAS has the added bonus of water resistance when printed with solvent inks.

Eco-Wet Strength Paper is a one-side coated paper designed to meet the demands of high production solvent and eco-solvent* ink jet printers. This latex-saturated, wet strength paper features a smooth surface which offers exceptional print fidelity with a distinctive lustre finish. Strength, flexibility and durability are hallmark traits of this media. It resists cracking when folded, and film lamination is not required in most intended applications. Product passes Class A flame spread tests (ASTM E-84) as manufactured.

Eco Banner is made from Corn and will begin to breakdown in land fills in 4 weeks and totally disappears into a sodium powder in 3 -5 years.  No toxins are released.  This media is a durable white, flexible substrate readily available in seamless up to 16’4” (5.00m). Tear and fade resistant, it will withstand all types of weather conditions. Eco-BANNER has been engineered to be the FIRST truly environmentally friendly, biodegradable PVC sign material. It is well suited for applications that require a front-lit digitally printed sign or banner.

“The Eco-MEDIA range of specifically designed media was chosen to further Roland DG’s environmental initiatives” stated Marcus Adler, MD of Roland DG, “Roland DG’s mandate of environmental protection is an issue we take seriously and are proud to be leading the way as we did when launching the range of Eco-Sol inks”.

“The release of this specialty media range will allow our customers in the printing industry to be able to quote on more stringent guidelines of environmental impact issues that are being set by councils and companies alike” commented Marc Margetts Director of Sales.

Roland DG will be premiering the Eco-MEDIA range of Medias at the upcoming Visual Impact Image Expo in Sydney from the 18th through to the 21st of July.
