Newly arrived from the UK is Scotsman Alex Ferguson who brings with him 14 years of experience with the UK’s largest distributor to the Sign and Display market - The Robert Horne Group, part of the PaperlinX empire.
Ferguson held several positions covering both Litho and Digital print with Robert Horne during his long time there, most recently as Account Manager for Scotland and the NW of England for the Sign and Display division. His decision to move to Australia for a new life is coupled with his upcoming marriage to fiancée Catherine. His position with Starleaton was secured prior to his arrival.
“What attracted me to Starleaton was the people within the company who are all customer focused and have a very positive can-do attitude. Coupled with the strong product range with a number of well known branded lines, it makes for a very exciting challenge ahead. I look forward to developing close business relationships with my clients and enhancing the strong reputation for customer service I had in Scotland,” he says.
Like his Manchester United manager namesake, Ferguson is an avid follower of soccer and in particular the Scottish National Team.
Joining alongside Ferguson is David Calder, originally a Queenslander with nine years production and marketing experience in the wide-format signage and display sector. For two of those years he was Business Development Manager for progressive Sydney sign shop Catalyst Graphics where he engaged both in customer servicing and running Catalyst’s fleet of digital printers up to 3.2 metres wide.
Prior to that Calder was with supplier Celmac for six years as District Sales Manager and Warehouse Manager before that. He also has experience in hotel and hospitality management.
He has wide interests in both sport and literature, playing Baseball and Netball at State level where he has represented NSW for almost ten years. He is married with a young family of three-month old twins and a three-year old daughter.
“I’m looking forward to selling Starleaton’s broad range of sign and display products and continuing the levels of customer service I have strived for. Knowing Starleaton’s growth plans, I am also keen on acquiring new knowledge of processes and products,” he says.
National Sales Manager Campbell Hughes, introducing his fifth and sixth new recruits in recent months, comments; “The level of experience that Alex and David bring to the company is of immense value to customers. I welcome these two highly competent players to the NSW team.”
