Printing Industries Victorian and Tasmanian training co-ordinator, Bruce Lowery , said that while some people had a natural propensity to lead, they often lacked the mentoring and development of those attributes.
“This is very evident when you have owner managers struggling to work on the business and in the business and not being able to confidently delegate some of these responsibilities to others,” he said.
“It is also evident in companies facing a business transition or struggling with the development of succession planning.
“Not having the support of management staff with good leadership and communication skills able to problem solve and make decisions is a common issue that can undermine the best laid plans.”
Mr Lowery said companies were often reluctant to seek external advice and consultants’ costs often could not be justified, depending on the business.
“Printing Industries has moved to fill that leadership skills void by introducing a Dynamic Leadership Skills course that has already been trialled successfully in the printing industry and can skill either existing managers, up-and-coming managers or team leaders.
“We are offering this three-day course in Victoria and NSW after its successful introduction to several Victorian companies,” he said.
The course has received praise from many participating companies including Bambra Press where Manager Rhonda Osborne described it as: “A cracker of a course. I thoroughly recommend it – both on a professional & personal level.”
