Managing director Shane Little talks about the motivation for the purchase, which was made through HP Channel partner Celmac.
Two years ago Imagesource installed an HP Scitex XP2700 and an HP Scitex FB950 flatbed to improve its production capabilities. Now with the new HP Latex inks printer the company can confidently promote its environmental credentials.
”We had a eco-solvent machine, the only single surviving piece of equipment left after we upgraded to HP UV cured machines some two years ago. But with the new HP Designjet Latex ink printer we can now offer a total green print solution,” said Shane. “We looked at other printers on the market, but none gave us the green advantage that we see with the HP machine”.
Shane says the Latex printer will be used to produce a range of print solutions at greater width than is possible with their existing sublimation printer. “This machine is about a metre wider so it gives us flexibility to take on larger jobs. And with the new Latex inks we can now print directly to textiles for backdrops across a wide colour gamut”.
The installation of the HP DJ L65500 printer will also enable Imagesource to pick up more trade work from those print shops that don’t have a green offering, and from those who don’t the same width capacity with their Latex machines. “There are a few printers locally who have the smaller Latex machine. We believe with the larger model we will be able to produce their overflow, and larger jobs, at dramatically reduced prices,” explains Shane.
Imagesource has been a long-term client of Celmac. Shane says, “Our relationship with Celmac spans around twenty years, about as long as we have been in business. No matter how big or small our requirements they’ve always been there for us. They know our business and that makes a real difference when it comes to buying production equipment”.
Located in Perth, Imagesource employs 32 and is in the process of opening a second facility, a “state-of-the-art digital centre, which will be opened in September,” states Shane.
In conclusion he says “We’ve been extremely satisfied with our HP printers and are excited about the opportunities we see for the HP Latex machine and our new digital print centre”.
