A proud Roland DG has announced that the VersaSTUDIO BN-20, 20-inch wide metallic Eco-SOL MAX inkjet printer/cutter, received the prestigious viscom BEST of 2011 Award in the sign-making category at viscom Düsseldorf 2011.

The BN-20 is the industry’s first metallic desktop eco-solvent printer/cutter. The BN-20 combines all the versatility and advanced features of Roland’s latest inkjet printing technologies into a compact, affordable device. The BN-20 quickly and easily produces a wide range of full-color prints with metallic effects, on demand, for apparel heat transfers, labels, decals, POP, promotional signage and more. Integrated print/cut technology allows the BN-20 to contour cut graphics into virtually any shape without additional die cutting equipment. The BN-20 includes powerful Roland VersaWorks® RIP software exclusively developed for Roland inkjets.
Then there was the SGIA win for the ECO-UV S named industry's Top Digital Ink and LEJ-640 Hybrid Flatbed UV-LED Printer
The company's new ECO-UV S ink took top honours in SGIA's Product of the Year 2011 competition in the Digital Ink category. Roland's VersaUV LEJ-640 hybrid flatbed printer received the Honorable Mention award for Poster Size UV Inkjet Printers under 96 inches.
These awards follow several prestigious industry honours for VersaUV technology, including past DPI, EDP and Label Industry Global Innovation awards.

Roland VersaUV inkjets come in five models, ranging from 12 to 64 inches in width. Wide-format VersaUV models support the new, highly flexible ECO-UV S ink, which expands up to 220 percent. This extended elasticity allowsprints to mould perfectly to the contours of PET bottles and plastic cups, and ensures flawless results on thermoformed plastic that is commonly used for items ranging from food service trays to auto parts packaging and consumer electronics cases. ECO-UV S is offered in CMYK and white for the VersaUV LEJ-640 printer and LEC series printer/cutters.
The 64-inch LEJ-640 hybrid flatbed printer prints CMYK, white and clear coat, which produces embossed and tactile effects on both flexible roll media and rigid substrates up to a half-inch thick, ranging from shrink wrap, pressure sensitive media and papers to corrugated cardboard, polycarbonate sheets and foam board. Users can choose from original ECO-UV or new ECO-UV S inks.
