10 new printing systems to boost PSPs digital print offerings in APJ
Technological changes are bringing tectonic shifts in the graphics industry forcing PSPs to move from analogue to digital way of printing. The opportunities that digital offers to PSPs are significantly different from the traditional. HP’s new and expanded portfolio of 10 new printing systems helps address markets that were not previously addressed by digital printing systems. These products address the entire spectrum including:-

— HP Indigo digital presses featuring high-quality liquid HP ElectroInks for commercial, photo specialty, and label and packaging applications
— HP Inkjet Web presses for high-speed publishing, transactional and commercial applications
— HP large-format systems using HP Latex and UV inks for numerous  sign and display applications
— HP Specialty Printing Systems inkjet solutions for high-productivity, low-cost imprinting, addressing, coding and marking applications.

Customer-focused segmented strategy leads to increased page volume and opens new business models for PSPs
HP recognises that PSPs today are looking for a trusted and reliable partner whom they can depend on for their expertise and knowledge to help them be successful in their segments. HP’s segmented market approach provides an in-depth and comprehensive end–to-end solution aligned with PSPs needs allowing them to develop their core digital businesses with confidence whilst exploring new opportunities in other segments such as direct marketing, transpromo, publishing and speciality photo printing. HP experts work with the respective PSP to develop personalised solutions to accomplish their business goals, allowing:-

•    Entry to profitable new markets by exploiting the broadest portfolio of partner graphic arts printing solutions known in the industry.
•    Creation of new customer value through using innovative & dependable printing solutions integrated by HP and its partners.
•    Streamlined business by simplifying operations and protecting investments using graphic arts printing HP and HP partner solutions.

“Besides supporting our traditional business, HP’s Indigo printers have helped us to develop a new business model which enables us to provide new value-added services such as digital-printing-based B2C online platform (such as tushu.com), content creation applications (such as publishing and editing) and supporting online digital printing task ordering for our customers”, said Guo Jianhong, General Manager, Beijing Civa Printall Inc. a commercial printing and publishing company in Beijing.

Working with HP, CIVA has been able to explore new business opportunities by introducing a print-on-demand service for its business-to-business customers and a publishing print-on-demand service for its publisher customers, to meet their requirements on personalised invitation letters, customised marketing materials, bidding documents and books. CIVA also will be looking to launch a service for consumers where they can produce personalised photobooks and Twitter books through their company website.

Spanning virtually every form of printed output HP's expanded Graphics Solutions portfolio serves the diverse needs of the graphics arts community with consistently outstanding output, a complete workflow offering, dependable partner solutions and an expansive selection of ink and media options. Using solutions from HP Inkjet Web Presses, HP Designjet, HP Indigo, HP Scitex and HP Specialty Printing Systems (SPS), HP Latex inks and HP Web solutions, print service providers can create output ranging from personalised direct mail pieces and high-end fine art reproductions to point-of-sale posters, super-wide billboards or personalised books as in the case of McPherson’s, a book publishing and commercial printing firm.

Alan Fahy, CEO McPherson's Printing,  “What’s great about the HP Web Press T Series is it allows our customers to reduce their inventory levels and obsolescence, have smaller runs to test the market, meet niche publishing demands and offer customised publications. It allows us to take some of the guess work out of publishing and also help our customers reduce their carbon footprint.”

The company installed the HP T400 as it was the only Digital Press that can economically deliver the required quality on book grade stocks. With HP, McPherson’s will be able to test the market for import replacement, reviving consumers interest in out of print books, enter the niche publishing segment, trial new products and personalise books for target audiences.

The segmented strategy also helps the PSPs to capture a larger share of the digital sign and display market opportunity and grow their businesses with broader application versatility and improved productivity

“Outdoor billboard printing was once the core component of our business before Kanghong Digital Image purchased HP. With HP, we can now produce large format posters and signage for in-store displays and enter a new market segment that we’ve never had the capability to do so before. Around 70% of Kanghong’s revenue is now being generated by our investment in HP printers”, said Aaron Lee, Manager Kanghong Digital Image (HK) Ltd.

Kanghong Digital Image is a digital image output service company in Hong Kong with clients that include large retail banks, mass transportation companies and shopping malls.

HP invests in PSPs to transform their printing and imaging ecosystems

-    Educational Seminar and training programs – significant increase in Dscoop led education seminars. In 2012, more than 10 Dscoop led in-country events are planned. This is in addition to the more than 15 planned HP training sessions for PSPs where double the number of participants are expected
-    Today, HP Graphics Solution Partner Program in APJ has grown significantly to now include 407 Solution Products, 120 Partners, 46 Workflow Solution Clusters
