At Fespa Barcelona 2012, swissQprint launched their new Thermoforming Ink - an innovative UV inkjet solution for vacuum formed images. swissQprint’s thermoforming ink resists high temperatures and expands brilliantly without stress whitening. Visitors to Visual Impact Image Expo, held at the Gold Coast later this month, will gain an impression of the ink‘s remarkable stretchability on Positive Camtec’s booth - B15.
Traditionally, 3D vacuum formed signage has been produced using either screen print or solvent inkjet printing methods. swissQprint has broken the mould and developed a UV curable ink that performs to the highest standards. The principle may be simple − but its technical implementation is awkward, to say the least. The ink must be highly flexible, yet also durable and scratch resistant. The ink must be able to retain its colour density whilst being stretched, without showing signs of ‘stress whitening.’
swissQprint, the Swiss inkjet systems specialist, is pleased to announce that their thermoforming ink is in use in true production sites, and has proven to withstand the vigour of the vacuum forming process.
The new ink set is immediately available. It can be installed either as a standalone inkset, or as a complement to the standard inks on both the Oryx and Impala printing system. Thanks to this combined solution, swissQprint machines are ready to handle both thermoforming and conventional printing jobs.
One thing is certain: Another swissQprint creation that deeply impresses…and end users will have the same effect with their 3D vacuum formed products. By launching the thermoforming ink set, swissQprint underscores the enormous flexibility of its high-calibre inkjet systems and cements them as offering ‘one system for the future!’
