Dainippon Screen Australia, a subsidiary of the $3 billion revenue Kyoto-based Japanese manufacturer, is gearing up to celebrate its silver anniversary of direct operations in Australia.

The company established its own sales and service business here in November 1987 following many years of distribution through Edwards Dunlop Graphics, who exited equipment sales to focus on paper.

screen seal“Some of the staff who were with EDG came over to the new direct operation and are still with us to this very day,” says Managing Director Peter Scott. “We have also enjoyed a very loyal customer base who have stayed with us through major technology shifts from film and scanners through to CTP and digital printing.”

Screen Japan is listed on the Nikkei 200 stock index and has just released its annual report showing a positive result for its Media & Precision Technology division with both sales and profits increasing during FY 2011-12. At drupa in May, the company introduced or previewed several new products including a new digital label press, a new high-productivity wide format flatbed UV machine, faster and greener CTP systems and a packaging version of its Truepress Jet SX B2 digital press.

Screen also operates in the Semiconductor, Flat Panel Display and Green Energy fields and is by far the world’s major supplier of critical silicon wafer-cleaning equipment that is essential in semiconductor manufacture.

“As November approaches, our team will be getting around to customers with mementos to mark our 25th anniversary and we will combine our Christmas gathering with celebrations to mark a quarter of a century working with Australian and of course New Zealand customers through our partnership with Fujifilm NZ.”

“It’s a great time to talk to us about upgrading CTP, workflow and digital printing capabilities!” says Scott with a smile.
