Dainippon Screen, in conjunction with UK-based SCREEN group company Inca Digital Printers Ltd., has developed the Truepress Jet W3200UV wide-format UV inkjet printing system; on show for the first time at FESPA, London.
In a development made possible by drawing on the core technologies refined by both Inca and SCREEN over many years, the system will be available from October 2013 and its launch is expected to accelerate SCREEN’s business expansion in the worldwide sign and display market.
The Truepress Jet W3200UV follows on from the introduction of the 1632UV at drupa in May 2012 and has additional features such as a white ink option, expansion of the inkset to include Light Cyan and Light Magenta and a table 3200mm x 1600mm in size with retractable lay pins for pinpoint repeat registration accuracy.
Thanks to a newly developed print carriage, productivity is up to 84 square meters per hour, claimed to be the best in its class. Uptime is further improved by an optional automated cleaning station that helps maintain the printeads in the best condition for uninterrupted production, without operator intervention. Nozzle mapping allows the system to continue production even when nozzles become blocked or deviated. The piezo printheads deliver 600dpi resolution with an apparent 1,000dpi when viewed.
SCREEN’s new proprietary shuttered UV light source enables sensitive media to be printed where heat may cause dimensional instability. Industry-leading substrate versatility is further enhanced with Truepress inks, which are renowned for their adhesion and flexibility, even when media is bent or cut.
SCREEN Australia Managing Director Peter Scott says: “In the Truepress Jet W3200UV, we believe we now have a flatbed UV printer that in the leader in its class. The POP advertising market is growing strongly and campaigns are planned and implemented over shorter cycles. With its high productivity, image quality and now with white ink, the W3200UV is the perfect work-horse board producer for responsive and quality-conscious sign shops, and is also perfect for short-run packaging work.”
