The latest newsletter from ASGA reported on Michael's appointment as follows:.......Michael Blazek was elected President of the National 
Executive of the Australian Sign and Graphics Association at its Annual General Meeting on 13 June. He succeeds David Hay who served diligently as President since ASGA amalgamated into a national organization in 2007. At that time Michael Blazek was the Chairman of the Queensland Sign Association and it was David Hay's persuasion that convinced him to petition that the State Association become part of the national body. As Queensland's Chairman, Michael became a member of the National Executive and later was appointed as ASGA Treasurer.
I would like to express my gratitude to outgoing President David Hay for encouraging and mentoring me. I would like to thank him for all the time and effort he has contributed to make the ASGA the strong and professional industry body it has become since its formation in 2006. He has overseen a growth in membership from 260 to 470 during his years of leadership, an increase largely due to the member benefits that have been sourced.
I am flattered and honoured to serve as the Association's President. I have been surrounded by signs for as long as I can remember. I worked for my father in his billboard and neon business in Wisconsin, USA, before completing my glass bending apprenticeship at Claude Neon in Auckland, New Zealand in 1983. I owned Western Neon in Seattle, Washington from 1984-1990. In June 1990, I moved to Australia and have been based in Brisbane as co-director of Neon Signs Australia since then.
I look forward to a more active involvement with the Association's members and its industry-related organizations to ensure the ASGA continues to grow and serve the sign industry.
