Spandex in South Australia will be wrapping a 1966 Ford Mustang at this year’s Hot Rod show which is co-presented with the Extreme Auto Expo at Adelaide Showgrounds on 19th and 20th October.
The wrapping demonstrations will be performed by trained installers of Avery Dennison, 3M, Arlon and ImagePerfect vehicle wrapping and paint replacement materials, all of which are distributed by Spandex Asia-Pacific.
“We aim to show enthusiasts at the Hot Rod show the amazing results that can be achieved by using graphically printed wrap films instead of paint,” says Spandex Marketing Manager Nathan Barclay. “The big advantage is that the wrap can be removed, leaving the paintwork in perfect condition underneath. With digital printing, virtually any design, decal or photographic image can be applied to the film which is then stretched over the car body contours using a heat gun, squeegees and a little skill. Wraps can be total or partial and even auto glass can be covered with one-way vision perforated film.”
Vehicle wrapping has become big business in Australia for company fleets, trucks, trams, buses, bikes and increasingly private vehicles where the owner wants a unique look; or ‘pimp my ride’ to coin the name of the US TV show.
“We’re really looking forward to showing Extreme Auto and Hot Rod visitors what can be achieved. It’s pure demonstration of wrapping the Mustang, peeling it off and re-wrapping. All of our wrap products are supplied as part of the service offered through our sign, display and auto qualified applicators,” say Barclay, adding:” People will be amazed at what can be achieved and when the time comes for a new design, the wraps peel off cleanly and a new one can be applied.”
