Spicers in Perth held the company’s first ‘Wrap Day’ in October, with customers having a day of fun and training with some state-of-the-art Spicers Sign and Display products.
Held at the picturesque Burswood on Swan function centre, the aim of the day was to teach Spicers customers the proper preparation and application techniques around car wrapping. Attendees participated in a hands-on practical course wrapping 2 vehicles in Spicers graphics. The day was split into 2 sessions, a beginner’s class and, for the more advanced, a master class. Both courses were full with customers keen to improve their skills in this novel area.
Often used for advertising, car wrapping is fast catching on as an attractive and speedy alternative to spray- paint. Wraps can be expertly printed with unique designs and then applied to the car, bypassing the need for the fumes and mess that traditional painting entails.
Spicers recently launched vehicle wrapping solution, Avery’s MPI1005 EZRS teamed with the new DOL1460 3D High Gloss over laminate, was the key material for Wrap Day. As opposed to paint, the wraps are repositionable and slideable, not to mention easy to apply, as customers soon discovered on Wrap Day.
‘The over laminate is an ultra conformable product,’ comments Alan Dodsworth, Spicers Sales Executive, Sign, Screen and Display, WA. ‘It’s really quite incredible how it handles the most extreme 3D curves. It also has excellent printability and prints well across latex, eco solvent, solvent and UV curable inkjet printers, so you have the added benefit of just one consistent product for use across multiple platforms.’
In addition to Long Term Removability, the DOL1460 has air egress channels that help eliminate bubbles and wrinkles. With the ability to conform to the most exacting corrugations and recesses, the end result is a high gloss, superior ‘wet look’ finish. With maximum UV and weather protection, the prints remain vibrant for longer.
‘We have been increasing our stock holdings of this grade along with all of our extensive Sign and Display range,’ comments Roger Rankine, Spicers Regional Manager, WA. ‘Perth is an important market and Spicers recognise the fact that we want to grow and support our customers in Western Australia, hence the idea of Wrap Day.’
Wrap Day was also a great way to welcome Sales Executive Alan, who, while having many years of experience in the print-related market, is new to Spicers.
‘I’m really looking forward to further developing Spicers presence in the Perth market and assisting the consumable needs of wide format printers in Perth,’ adds Alan. ‘Wrap Day was enjoyed by all and everyone learnt the best practice techniques around car wrapping. It has even inspired me to have my own car wrapped in the next few weeks!’
