EFI has continued its acquisition trail by anouncing that it has acquired Lector Computersysteme GmbH, a print management information system (MIS) developer based in Mönchengladbach, Germany.
Lector is a leading provider of German-language MIS software, and the acquisition will strengthen EFI’s MIS leadership position in Europe.
While financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, it is not expected to be material to EFI’s Q4 or full-year 2013 results. Lector’s employees have joined EFI and will report to Sean Whelan, director of EMEA-region operations in EFI’s Productivity Software business.
“Germany has always been one of the world’s largest printing industry markets, so we are pleased to have Lector Computersysteme join EFI,” said Marc Olin, EFI’s interim CFO and senior vice president and general manager of the company’s Productivity Software business.
“EFI continues to prove it is a world-class provider when it comes to helping printing companies improve their management operations and grow profitably,” said Frank Mertzbach, founder and former owner of Lector. “We are excited to give our customers access to technology from the world’s leading developer of print MIS software.”
Lector’s MIS products will become part of the EFI Productivity Software family of products. Lector’s technology will also be integrated with EFI Wide Format and EFI VUTEk superwide format inkjet printers, as well as with EFI Fiery, the leading digital front end platform for Xerox, Canon, Ricoh and Konica Minolta printers and copiers. EFI will also continue to support the existing Lector client base, which consists of approximately 1,000 customers.
