The Techkon Dens unifies three devices in one. It is a colour reflection densitometer for CMYK colour prints, a film transmission densitometer and a high-precision illuminated magnifying glass for the visual control of printing results.
This entry-level instrument allows everyone to perform a fundamental densitometric quality control on the basis of the reliable high accuracy well-known from all Techkon instruments.
This is what Michael Lithgow of Kayell Australia had to say about it after testing it for a few days:
"I have received the Dens and run it through its paces, it is fantastic. It is everything I was looking for in an entry level densitometer and should fit the market extremely well. It is LED lighting and the measurements are extremely stable. It is simple and quick to use and has a slightly smaller aperture than the Spectrodens and so will read most of the colourbars on the press sheets. The 2.5mm aperture in the Dens is really as small as I would want to use for accurate reads. I believe that our clients will see the smaller aperture as an advantage. The fact that it is polarised is a real benefit as well, as the wet to dry reads should be more consistent as well. It even has slope control which enables the Dens to be adjusted to match the readings of another densitometer, meaning two completely different densitometers can have the same readings, a really nice touch for in-house consistency. It feels solid and the illuminated magnifier is surprisingly useful and practical. I love it!"
