Melbourne large format signage and display printer, Resolution Imaging, has installed a new Screen Truepress Jet W3200UV-HS flatbed UV capable of up to 150 sqm/hr.
This is the third such machine in Australia and the sixth in the ANZ region since being released in 2014. It was installed in September and has been in constant production since day one.

white ink as we grew and attracted more customers. The W3200UV has been a huge success in this regard and more; a step up in productivity, a step up in quality and several steps up in versatility. The auto-nozzle cleaning is fantastic and saves a lot of time; if a nozzle blocks it is substituted and cleaned later or at next switch-on. We’ve had to add another Esko Kongsberg cutting table to keep up with the demand.”
Manufactured in the UK by Screen GP subsidiary Inca Digital, the W3200UV has proven a huge hit all over the world, with Resolution’s machine being number 52. “I did a course on the machine so I would be totally familiar with it and pass that on to our operators. The local service from Screen is great but, to be honest, it has been so reliable that so far service calls have been more like social visits!” says Watkins, who also visited the first W3200UV installation at Flash Graphics, Sydney prior to committing.
Resolution Imaging services mainly the retail industry with POP, roll-ups, posters and hanging signs and counts Coles among its customers. The main substrates used are Kapa, ForeX, Re-Board, Corflute and the made-in-Australia extruded polypropylene boards from Megara such as Promeg, Ecologia and the world’s first certified carbon-neutral plastic sheet, Dueco. Another Australian-made product, Printboard Easyprint, a foam-core, is also used.
“Most of our work is for close-inspection so the W3200’s 14 picolitre droplet size, linear drive motors and screening method results in fine detail that our customers appreciate. The inks are wide-gamut and we keep colour closely under control. It’s not a thirsty machine and inks are reasonably priced, so that adds to the benefits,” says Watkins.
Commenting on his third Australian W3200 customer, Screen GP Managing Director Peter Scott says: “We are delighted that Resolution has upgraded to the latest high-speed Truepress Jet W3200UV, and even more so that it is helping Darren’s business grow. It is a high-end flatbed UV for demanding production but, like all Screen and Inca equipment, is engineered to an exacting standard. The ANZ market has responded positively, with Flash adding the 3.2 metre roll option, Resolution considering this and a further three orders received recently, all for the 150 sqm/hr HS version. It proves that for discerning printers, quality and reliability never go out of style.”
Resolution Imaging’s W3200UV features a 3.2 x 1.6 metre zoned vacuum table with auto register pin retraction, auto-stop proximity safety sensor, a shuttered proprietary UV light source to improve printing of heat-sensitive media and a CMYK + White ink configuration. Light Cyan and Light Magenta can be added as an onsite upgrade if required.
