Over the past three years, the Commonwealth Government funded Future Print program has reviewed and revitalised apprenticeship training to deliver a system which is more responsive to the ongoing needs of the industry and, perhaps just as importantly, provide a pathway for the industry’s future leaders.
Future Print apprenticeship training has, since its inception in 2013, assisted businesses in the print and related communications, creative and information sectors to develop the skills and capabilities to enable them respond effectively to meet economic, demographic and technological change, says the project’s head, Bill Healey – but in an industry challenged by an ageing workforce, it is the incentives for bright and capable young people to take on the challenge of leadership which is perhaps most exciting.
While Future Print currently offers a range of programs in these areas, Healey says they believe a more targeted approach is needed for those who have completed their trade or are on the ‘first rung’ of the management ladder.
A brochure outlining this course, ‘Success Strategies for Team Leaders and Supervisors’ has now been released and is available from Printing Industries. This provides a course outline, schedule of proposed courses, and details costs which are based on the size of the business involved – Healey says the full cost is just over $3,000, of which 67% is subsidised by Government.
Success Strategies for Team Leaders and Supervisors will assist newer Team Leaders and Supervisors and those transitioning into their first leadership role to develop their leadership and communication skills. They will improve their ability to work with their team to achieve the team’s performance objectives and goals.
Upon successful completion of assessment activities participants will receive BSB30115 Certificate III in Business.
Participants can expect to:
