Rob is the name of swissQprint robotic solution for unattended printing, it was showcased for the first time at drupa 2016. The compact robot augments any swissQprint flatbed printer and loads and unloads the media.
Oblivious to the hustle and bustle of the show going on around him, Rob stayed on the job unerringly and without ever taking a break. To an awed public, the new robot demonstrated how unattended printing works with swissQprint: he precisely loaded boards onto an Impala 2 flatbed printer and just as carefully stacked them up after printing.
Working in concert with the printer, Rob handles extra shifts without supervision and takes over repetitive work. The user gains time for other tasks and has fewer hours to work. Despite greater utilisation of the printer and optimised delivery times, the work-life balance of personnel stays on the level. Higher output also has a positive impact on financial results, not least because neither robot nor printer demand allowances for night shift or weekend working.
Rob is ready to go within barely ten minutes. The user docks him to the swissQprint flatbed printer, whereupon he undergoes auto-initialisation and connects with the output software. The software controls both printer and robot. Whether the user now switches to other tasks during the day, takes a break or goes home in the evening, he can rely on the printer-robot team. At any time or at unsocial hours, the duo takes on the shift with consistent precision and efficiency. And after the work is done, Rob is content to be stashed away in a small corner.
Rob is capable of handling many different kinds of material. So users retain their accustomed great freedom of applications that swissQprint large format printers offer. Incidentally, the printer stays readily accessible. Safety is also a given because sensors monitor his operating radius. Rob slows down should somebody or something enter it. And in case of contact, he freezes on the spot.
The robot is fully integrated and compatible with all swissQprint models. Existing customers can also automate their printer later on.
