Chisholm recently participated in Visual Impact 2016 as part of the Back to Work Project for Vinyl Application and Design, being launched by Chisholm for 2017.
The back to work project is a government initiative aimed at reskilling workers that may be transitioning to offer training in other industries with transferable skills.
Chisholm is working towards becoming a market leader with training in this field, and as the merging of various disciplines within the print industry gathers momentum, re-skilling the workforce is high on every business agenda.
The first of the proposed programs is a Vinyl Wrapping course for vehicles, where students will prove competency to obtain a certificate of attainment. Through extensive industry consultation the course is the first of its kind, where the emphasis is on practice over three different shaped vehicles.
The second and more traditional program will be open for enrolments for school leavers in the coming months. In 2016 Chisholm developed a Certificate ll in Printing and Graphic Arts, with an emphasis on large format printing on to self-adhesive vinyl products and related media. This program will be delivered full time over six months or part time over two years. The part-time model will allow students and employers to negotiate a Traineeship pathway.
With 15 years’ experience in the large format domain, Ernest Gal has been employed as project manager to implement these programs and identify other opportunities in training in a rapidly evolving industry.
Chisholm offers over 500 courses across seven locations in Melbourne’s south east and has inspirational teachers, flexible learning options, support services and quality training facilities.
