The Future Print Transformation Project has over $250,000 still available to support subsidised training in key business management and operational areas.
Future Print will therefore be offering a number of short courses over the remainder of the project in identified areas of need.
As with all Future Print subsidised training programs, the training costs for each course depends on the size of the business. Companies employing less than 100 staff will receive a Commonwealth Government Future Print subsidy that covers 67% of the training cost.
The available courses:
Small Business
Courses in Small Business Financial Management, Core Management & Marketing delivered nationally through TAFESA. Each short course is delivered fully online, and should take between 3 – 5 months to complete including assessments.
Colour Management
Future Print, TAFE Queensland and Fuji Xerox Australia have teamed up to provide access to a limited number of subsidised places in the highly regarded Fuji Xerox Digital Colour Management Certification course (DCMC) to the industry.
The 20 module course is delivered fully on line and takes 12-15 hours to complete including assessments. It is particularly relevant to people from a design or offset print background who want to know more about colour management in a digital print environment.
Digital Upskill
Future Print will partner with a range of training providers across the country to deliver a targeted short course to enable printers to enhance their digital print skills.
The need for this program was identified through the Future Print business consultation process. Companies see an increasing need for their offset trained workers to have the ability to operate in a digital environment.
Tradespeople who are now required to use new digital machines in their workplaces will benefit from the additional skills, and increase productivity through a better understanding of digital equipment. They will be able to fix basic file issues without disruption to production schedules.
The course will also assist displaced workers looking to upskill into other areas to broaden their skill base and employability.
Training delivery varies between providers, but most will deliver the program using a ‘blended’ learning model that includes online, on the job, and off the job / classroom learning. Participants will learn through structured and flexible methods. The opportunity exists for customisation of instruction and assessment.
Future Leaders program.
Leadership Management Australia will run a second course to assist team leaders and supervisors to gain the skills and confidence they need to accept responsibility, build productive teams, plan team activities, set KPIs and monitor team performance. The program involves 9 x 3 hour workshops.
Competitive Systems and Practices (CSP) – Lean Manufacturing ‘Taster’ program
This skill set has been developed in response to industry demand. Companies have indicated an interest in exploring ‘Lean’ but have reservations committing to a 12-18 month company-wide program due to the cost, impact on production, or program effectiveness / suitability.
This introductory skill set would allow companies to experience some of the benefits of a CSP program in their workplace, assess the results, and make an informed decision before committing to a full program.
Sales
Future Print has asked the Australian Academy of Sales (AAS) to adapt its highly regarded Certificate IV Business Sales courses so it is available to staff who are looking for more targeted short courses focused on particular aspects of the sales cycle. These courses will enable participants to benefit from a formal and structured learning approach that facilitates improved organisational performance.
AAS will offer 4 different Skill Sets covering Sales Management, planning sales strategies, responding to customer needs, and identifying international printing opportunities.
The courses will be delivered predominantly online via pre-recorded webinars that are directly taken from a Cert IV qualification in Business Sales that is also offered through the Future Print Business Transformation project.
Learners will also receive follow-up telephone support and coaching sessions. It is anticipated that learners should take approximately 1-2 months to complete a skill set, and hopefully it will appeal to those learners looking for a specific skill set targeting a perceived job weakness, or area requiring further development delivered across an intensive time frame.
N.B. In order to take advantage of these courses, any new business in the project will need to complete a brief Future Print Business Review and Workforce Development Plan.
Proposed candidates will also need to have a minimum Certificate 3 qualification e.g. trade certificate to qualify for the subsidised training.
