Ian Kiernan OA, founder of Clean Up Australia, will visit Canon employees as they prepare to pick up rubbish at ELS Hall Park in North Ryde as part of Business Clean Up Day 2018.
More than 60 Canon employees are set to participate in Canon Australia’s Business Clean Up efforts in Sydney, Brisbane, Victoria, Adelaide and Perth. Canon encourages other businesses and individuals to join the cause and join their local community efforts on Clean Up Australia Day this Sunday 4 March.
Canon came on board this year as a Business Sponsor of Clean Up Australia. In line with Canon’s corporate philosophy of Kyosei – living and working together for the common good – and its commitment to sustainability, sponsorship of the national event is Canon’s latest addition to its strong track record of supporting local communities and the environment.
Managing Director Yusuke Mizoguchi said that Business Clean Up is an ideal initiative to continue this work: “We are pleased to give our employees time out of their work day to contribute to the community in such a meaningful way”.
Ian Kiernan, Chairman and founder of Clean Up Australia explained the benefit of businesses showing their support through Business Clean Up Day: “It’s not just about the rubbish we collect on the day – it’s about creating an awareness of the importance of cleaning up, fixing up and conserving our environment. I can’t think of better way for a business to build a strong team than to throw them a challenge where they can make a real difference”.
Australians clock up over 2.1 tonnes of waste per person each year, one of the highest figures in the world. Canon recognises this problem and is taking active taking steps to minimise the impact it has on the environment, taking the lead on the clean-up effort to improve the environment for all.
