Jones has been involved in the ink industry in South Africa for more than 30 years and says he’s gone from one job he loves to another job he loves - all in the space of a few months.
Jones established his own ink manufacturing plant in Johannesburg called Primary Colour, which has been in operation for six years catering mostly to the wide-web flexo and gravure packaging industry.
Prior to that, he was senior technical director for Hi-Tech Inks, the largest liquid inks manufacturer in South Africa. Both companies represented Pulse Roll Label Products in their respective markets.
Earlier this year, Jet Tech added flexographic ink technician Paul Mercuri as technical sales representative for its inks and coatings team in Melbourne.
Jet Technologies kicks off an innovation roadshow in Auckland next week before travelling to Sydney and Melbourne. The Innovation Series will present latest developments in labelling and narrow web printing.
Guest speakers include: Gary Seward, managing director of Pulse Roll Label Products in the UK; Dieter Niederstadt, technical marketing manager at Asahi Photoproducts, who is flying in from Germany; Peter Scott, managing director of the ANZ arm of digital label printing solutions developer Screen GP; and Jack Malki, director of Jet Technologies (Australia only).
The Auckland event is on Monday October 15 4pm-6.30pm at Sorrento in the Park. The Sydney forum is on Wednesday October 17, 7.45am-10.30am at Jet HQ in Roseberry, and the Melbourne event is also a morning session, hosted at Yarra Yarra Golf Club in Bentleigh East from 7.45am-10.30am on Thursday, October 18.
