Roland DG has announced the Roland Partner Solution Program and has partnered with Project Engraving & Digital to deliver a new textile printing solution.
As a Roland DG Authorised Dealer, Project Engraving & Digital will distribute and support the new 74” HeatWave DFP-74 Fabric Printer. Based on Roland DG’s HeatWave sublimation technology, the DFP-74 Fabric Printer is a complete, integrated solution and Roland DG’s first inkjet ever to support direct printing onto polyester based fabrics.
“The HeatWave DFP-74 Fabric Printer combines the precision and performance of Roland DG’s print engine technology with the industry’s most advanced media handling and on-board sublimation components for digital fabric printing,” said Marc Margetts, Sales Director for Roland DG. “We are pleased to partner with Project Engraving & Digital to bring this new HeatWave product to the market. Project offer outstanding service, technical expertise and training capabilities they need to effectively serve their customers in this arena.”
“Roland DG continues to lead the industry with innovative new solutions that deliver the highest levels of performance and value,” said Adrian Holdaway, Managing Director of Project Engraving & Digital. “We look forward to working closely with Roland DG to help customers maximise their investment in this powerful new technology.”
The DFP-74 is designed for speed with its eight piezo print heads and Roland DG’s Precision Firing Pattern, which comprises an in-line head configuration, a firing pattern optimised for the heads, and reduced calibration procedures. The printer’s intelligent media-handling system fine-tunes the media-feeding process to ensure precise movements. Once printed, the media passes through a temperature-controlled heating system equipped with an infrared thermometer; the system monitors and adjusts the heating process to ensure a quick and even curing. It is this innovative addition to the FP-740 that removes the need for the traditional sublimation pressing process. The media management system controls the media from roll to end of take up to ensure perfect results can be achieved on media’s that exhibit elasticity and stretch, for example, Lycra based sports fabrics.
The DFP-74 utilizes Roland’s BU-1 bulk-ink system (with 1 litre of each ink) and a CMYK x 2 set of HeatWave SBL2 sublimation inks for rich, saturated colours. The system features an Intelligent Ink Monitoring System that prompts users when levels run low.
This machine also boasts an Automated Intelligent Maintenance feature, which actively monitors the printer, adjusts maintenance intervals, and automatically performs routine maintenance (manual cleaning around the head and capping station is only necessary every two weeks). It also features a heavy-duty media feed and take-up system that supports rolls up to 220 lb. An optional air-filtration system is available for removal of fumes, oil, and dust particles.
Features of the DFP include;
• Offering resolutions up to 720 x 720 dpi
• Top speed of 548 sq ft/hr at 270 x 360 dpi
• Designed to image polyester fabrics and other polyester substrates
• Produce applications that include flags, banners, textiles, and soft signage that need to maintain a natural drape and texture.
